Are You Certified? EPA RRP Rule Deadline 4/22/2010
As part of the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule that will go into effect April 22, 2010, contractors leaving any traces of lead paint behind are subject to fines from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for up to $37,500 per day, per violation. The law applies to all properties - commercial and residential - built before 1978 and includes renovations of six square feet per room on the interior and 20 square feet on the exterior.
Are You Certified? And How Can You Use It For Marketing?
Like any certification there are a multitude of ways to use this new law as a marketing tool. Once you receive the certification, make sure that the logo is on every piece of marketing material.
- Send out a press release announcing that your company is now certified
- Make sure on every estimate or consultation that you have a "leave behind" on the importance of hiring a certified firm
- Write an article about lead safety and remodeling/painting and present it to your local newspaper
If you have any other ideas or want to share your feelings about the new law, please leave your comments on the Footbridge Media Facebook Page.
